msg template. Text sent not what typed!
Hi
I have had the strangest issue with Outlook. I sometimes use msg files to
send emails to colleagues. Normally I have a template set up and I may
change the to, cc, subject and body of the email slightly to reflect the
topic of the email. However the bulk of the email remains the same.
The other day I was sending an email and had amended the template (not saved
as need to use the template again), and sent it out. Whilst the to,cc and
subject fields were correct the text i had entered in the body of the email
had gone and other text had been entered and my signature had dissappeared
and my colleague's had appeared instead!?!?!
The only thing that springs to mind is that my laptop was running slow and I
did get a "system low on resources" message. However I did not have any
extra additional applications open other than ones I normally use. It
happened twice so I stopped using the templates and am now manually building
the email each time from blank.
Any suggestions as to what may had caused this? the PC has been upgraded to
SP3 in the last month. Tag: Outlook 2007 Certification Tag: 604073

Advanced Find
Hi All,
I am using Outlook 2007, connected to a 2003 exchange server.
I have 6 other users Mailboxes open.
For some reason I cannot get Advanced find to search subfolders on the other
users accounts.
I am wanting to search for emails to or from a certain person in all the
open mailboxes - but it just sits forever and doesn't find anything.
If I go to a single folder, then it works as expected - but still won't
search any subfolders.
Any tips? Tag: Outlook 2007 Certification Tag: 604066

Some wat to change Outlook's importing rules for contacts?
When I import files to Outlook's contacts, the "File As" seems to
default to the Name. This is fine when there is no Company, but when
there is a Name and a Company I'd rather have the "File As" default to
the Company.
Is there any way to make this happen without (as I have been doing)
manually going through the contacts and editing them? Tag: Outlook 2007 Certification Tag: 604056

Upgrade to Outlook 2007 lost calendar favorites??
ok to make a long story short:
we have been using office 2003 pro for a few years now, decided to
upgrade to 2007 Pro a few weeks ago.
We have multiple departmental calendars created in the public folder of
our exchange server. These are added as favorites, and are located under
the "other calendars" section in calendars.
After the upgrade to 2007, about half of the users cannot see the public
folder calendars in their outlook. one was having this problem, and i
started clicking around, and they showed up magically?
All of the users are configured the same way(i set them all up)
This has been a huge pain in the butt for me the last few weeks....
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

O2003: way to more easily display email account name?
I find that where it says "This message will be sent by ___(email
acct)___" is a very small, insignificant-looking bit of text at that
top that only appears if I change the account.
I have an email checker that shows a huge field with a drop-down menu
and it's not the same colour as the background, so it's very obvious
which email account is being used. Is there something we can
customize somewhere that will show a very obvious field here instead
of what's available via default. As it is, I did acc the "Accounts"
pulldown menu to my toolbar, but I find that that's not enough.
Any tips re what others do to make this easier and more obvious is

ActiveSync - fails to sync all items
Hello,
I have a Windows XP laptop, running Office 2007, with a HTC TyTn2 Windows
Mobile 6 device and ActiveSync v4.5. The PDA is setup to sync Calendar,
Contacts, and Tasks. The synchronisation worked fine for about 3 weeks, and
then all new items stopped synchronising to the PDA. No errors were shown
on
the ActiveSync program on the laptop or PDA.
In an attempt to fix the problem, I deleted the device relationship on the
laptop and PDA, which now synchronises no items at all - again showing no
errors in ActiveSync.
I have done a hard reset on the device to no avail.
There are some errors in the ActiveSync logs - eg in WCESLog.log
p(5168) t(3644) TraceToFile -> ERROR in CMAPIDataHandler::_GetDataForItem :
hr = 0x80004002 - DataHandler.cpp(1873)
I tried synchronising a different PDA on the same laptop which worked
successfully.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brett. Tag: Outlook 2007 Certification Tag: 604030

Outlook hanging -> Public Folders
Hey guys
I've got an issue with a single user on XP & outlook 2000.
We have a single public folder that everyone has access to and this
particular user when clicking on the folder, outlook just hangs.
I have deleted the profile and re-created, re-installed outlook and
upgraded to outlook 2003 but with all the same issue.
It was fine until last week (I haven't made any changes either)

Rule to move from one folder to another
Just moved from Lotus to Outlook 2007 on exchange. We have an email address
that we use for all of our employees to mail in requests and tasks. There
are 6 support people who work out of the mail folder in order to complete the
requests. As each support person completes the request, she moves the
request to the completed folder. What we've been told is that for the
support person to move the item, we have to give her delete permission. The
problem is that we don't want anyone to delete out of this mail file. One
thing I was thinking is to create a rule that anything that moves into the
delete folder gets moved to a different folder that isn't automatically
cleared out every so often. Does anyone know how we would go about doing
this or do you have any other suggestions. Thanks! Tag: Outlook 2007 Certification Tag: 603986

pasted images appear as place holders in Outlook 2003 (since updating
Hi,
Since we migrated our environment from IE6 to IE7, many users have
complained about not being able to see the images they copy/paste
between Outlook messages.
Our environment: Win XP SP2 + Office 2003 SP2/SP3
Steps for reproducing the problem:
-in Outlook 2003, double-clic a message containing an embedded image,
right-click the image and select COPY
-close the message, create a new message and paste in the body of the
message: a place holder with a red cross is pasted instead of the image
Problem does not appear if any of these conditions is met:
-rollback to IE6 (we won't do this)
-upgrade to Office 2007 (we can't do this)
-the original window (containing the embedded image) stays open when
pasting (few users do that)
-the read pane is open (many users dislike the reading pane and
deactivate it)
-Word is the default email editor (it is not the case in our company)
The last three points are workarounds, not solutions. We have 2000+
users, I am looking for a definitive fix.
Any idea?

Signature problem
This is driving me batty...
New Windows XP machine, Outlook 2003, Exchange Server, Office XP.
For some reason, the signature for new emails is coming out with crazy
paragraph spacing (12pt I think) even though it looks perfect in the design
window.
I'm using HTML format for the emails, and the style is "Normal" or
"Paragraph" depending on which line of the signature I'm on. Both styles
appear to be single spaced when I write the email however. I can't find
where I'd edit the styles.
If I change the email format to Outlook Rich Text, it shows up single
spaced, but in a different font. I don't want to stay with rich text...
anyone have any idea what is going on here?

Custom public folder view - can anyone help?
Hi, we are running Exchange 2007 with a mixture of Outlook
2000/Outlook 2003/Outlook 2007 clients (ratio is probably 35/40/25
respectively).
One of my power users would like to set up a public folder currently
used as a team calendar (lots of color coding) with the following
specs:
- First, I would like a view to be printed that would show a quarter
(3 months) on one page.
- Second, I would like a picture to be displayed on the monthly and
quarterly views so that there is a key to our labels.
I've looked at all the options for this and I don't see any way to do
a 3-month view in this folder. Same goes for displaying an image here
as well. I wonder if there is a form or custom display which might
accomplish this, but I am not sure it is even possible?

Add New Group
I have read all the posts that look pertinent to my question, but no one has
answered it before, so here goes:
I'm using Outlook 2007 with Vista Ultimate. In Outlook I select 'contacts'.
I get a listing of my contacts, and on the left side I get a navigation pane
with 'My Contacts'. I can go down the pane and click on 'Add New Group'. I
can then enter my new group name, and it saves it.
Now the problem: I can't do anything with the new group. I can't add
contacts to it, I can't add or do anything with it, except stare at it in awe
and wonderment.
How do I set up a new group that has only my business contacts in it? NO, I
don't want a distribution list, or a "category". I want a complete new group

Outlook 2007 Strange behavior of Junk Mal [crossposte]
[cross posted to m.p.outlook and m.p.outlook.general]
Outlook 2007 on Windows XP Pro SP2
Ordinarily when an incoming message is sent to the Junk Mail folder, a
Pop-up Notification that a message was sent to the Junk Folder would shoe
and ask if I wanted to open that Folder. When I select yes, the Junk Mail
folder opens in a small window.
Recently, and sporadically, I no longer get that Notification message. The
messages, however, are in the Junk Mail folder.
The strange thing is that on the next opening of Outlook, I do get the the
pop-up, open the Junk Mail folder, and it's empty (as it should be because I
deleted the email prior to closing Outlook).
My anti-virus program is The Shield Deluxe and is enabled in Outlook.

Change a mail message to an Appointment
We use GroupWise at work and it has a great feature where you can select a
"Change To" option and then select... your choice.
This is very handy when people send e-mail instead of appointments... Thus a
Quick change to Group Or Posted appointment and all is done.
It appears to me that Outlook; Does NOT not provide a convenient and direct
method for the end user to convert an email or other task or note etc into
an Appointment or any other option.. or an Appointment into an e-mail or
other option.
I have only been able to do it my opening another window (Calander) and then
draging the email into the area I want.
Is there another way to convert an outlook event from one form to another?

Hi Steffen,,
I think the "Microsoft Office Specialist Certification 2003" is now the
"Microsoft Business Certification"
and the certification for an Office product is the "Microsoft Certified
Application Specialist "
Have a look on this site :
"Microsoft Business Certification: Certification Datasheet"

Maybe it helps.
